The Érablière

HISTORY

“My father, Denis Charbonneau,
is a grandson of Omer Brodeur,
a pioneer of the sugar shack
industry in Mont Saint-Grégoire.

Having inherited his grandfather’s passion, my father, shortly after marrying my mother Claudine, rented the Érablière de la Montagne sugar shack for over ten years. It was during this time that I too was bitten by the maple syrup bug, and I acquired considerable knowledge of the industry. In September 2004, my parents and I purchased an old sugar shack, with the dream of turning it into a festive place where the atmosphere would be just as important as the food.

It proved to be a major challenge, since neither the buildings nor the grounds had been maintained for several years. But we rolled up our sleeves, got down to work and built an incredible timber and log sugar shack. We also did a major clean-up of the grounds and the mountain, so that our guests would be able to walk along our property’s hiking trails.

Érablière Charbonneau is located next to Verger Denis Charbonneau orchard. We’re proud to say that these family businesses are united not only by our shared expertise but also by our mutual desire to provide the highest quality—whether it’s our customer service, products or food. I hope that we’ll have the chance to welcome you at our sugar shack soon.”
